Volunteers on the day come from the non-profit agencies whose mission is to help those in need... "there can be no higher calling".
Charities Supported by Us
- The California Highway Patrol 11-99 Foundation provides critical assistance and death benefits to CHP families and scholarships to their sons and daughters. Established in 1981, this 501 (c)(3) non-profit has distributed nearly US $20 million to CHP families. Funds are raised through members' support and fund raising events. - Rancho Cielo is a 100-acre ranch in the foothills near Salinas, CA, which offers educational, vocational training and recreational programmes to at-risk youth and first-time offenders giving them an opportunity to re-direct their lives. The mission of Rancho Cielo is to transform the lives of at-risk youth and empower them to become accountable, competent, productive and responsible citizens. We believe that the solution for our youth lies in education and work readiness, rather than incarceration. Our measurements are recidivism reduction; diplomas/professional certifications achieved, and post-programme employment or post-secondary education enrolment. - The Naval Postgraduate School Foundation encourages the pursuit of educational excellence at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS). To do so, the NPS Foundation solicits, receives, and administers funds, securities, and gifts-in-kind in order to provide NPS with support for its academic programmes and facilities. It actively develops relationships, seeks resources, increases public awareness and assists in developing a productive Alumni programme, together with the creation of programmess and services that reinforce NPS initiatives to become the leader in defense-related graduate research and preparation of the intellectual leaders of tomorrow's national and international security organisations. - Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) is a program that serves Seaside and Marina High Schools. Their mission is "to motivate young people to be better citizens." They typically start the school year with about 230 cadets, teaching leadership, teamwork, citizenship responsibilities and traditions, and general life skills. The cadets support local schools and community organizations with color guards, drill team performances, event parking control, flag details, and many other "manpower intensive“ requirements. Funds raised are used for scholarships to deserving four-year cadets who will be attending college, as well as for the annual Battalion Ball and for uniforms.
